Even Instagram themselves got involved and wrote: “You invented purple.”

A ‘dream’ role

During the premiere, the celebrity said his 10-year-old self would have thought people were “lying” about his latest gig.

Timothée explained to Variety: “Paul King wrote a beautiful script here, about a young Willy Wonka who follows his dreams.

“If you would’ve told me when I was 12 years old, when I was 10 years old watching the Johnny Depp version of Willy Wonka that I’d get to be here in Tokyo promoting this movie as Willy Wonka, standing next to Hugh Grant, I would’ve told you, you were lying. So, I guess like the movie, follow your dreams.”

Timothée will star as Roald Dahl’s iconic and nutty chocolate factory owner Willy Wonka. The character has previously been played by Gene Wilder in the 1972 film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Johnny Depp in the 2005 remake Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Wonka is the character’s origin story. The musical film will also feature Hugh Grant, Rowan Atkinson, and Sally Hawkins.

Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘worst day’

In a previous interview with GQ, the actor said that Jennifer Lawrence didn’t like spending time with him on set. She said he caused her to have the “most annoying day of her life.”

He told the publication that he was allowed onto the set of the Netflix film Don’t Look Up after 14 days in quarantine and “exploded out the room .”

“By the time I got to set I was buzz-ing. That was the day Jennifer said was the most annoying day of her life, working with me and Leo [DiCaprio].”

Jennifer later said that she was “a misery” on that particular day.

The star added: “Timothée was just excited to be out of the house, I think it was his first scene. I just remember being in absolute misery that day. But they’re very nice.”
